THE
COMPLETE SOLUTION FOR ORTHOPAEDIC AND CUSTOM
FIT SHOEMAKING
Shoemaster Orthopedie is a fully integrated
last modification and pattern engineering solution
for the orthopaedic and custom shoemaking industry.
Designed around Shoemaster's proven 3D technology,
Orthopedie allows orthopaedic and custom fit
shoemakers to create accurate, high quality
shoes in a fraction of the time required using
conventional manual processes.
The last making function begins with
a digital last library, capable of storing

range of model lasts and every variation
of size and fitting. Starting from the closest
matching last, the last maker can then make
extensive modifications to achieve the shape
required. A powerful sculpting tool is provided
that allows material to be added or removed
from any point on the last. Orthopedie also
has a unique "Modify by Measure" feature
that scales any section of the last to match
an exact measure, automatically blending the
changes into the last to retain the overall
integrity of the shape.
The pattern engineering technology is based
on the market-leading Shoemaster system. Styles
can be created in conventional 2D, or in full
3D by drawing directly on the last. Lasts can
be accurately flattened in seconds and patterns
developed to a precise specification. Uniquely,
Orthopedie also features a style transfer capability
that enables you to instantly apply an existing
style to a custom last, automatically generating
all the necessary patterns in a matter of seconds.
Foot outline import
One of the key methods of entering customer
or patient data in Orthopedie is to load a copy
of a foot outline or draft. This can be scanned
in using any flatbed scanner and then loaded
into the system as an image file. The outline
can then be used as template, allowing you to
adjust the last bottom pattern to match the
foot shape and accurately position foot measures.
Searchable digital last library¡@
Your model lasts can be digitised (either in-house
or by your software supplier) using a manual
digitiser or a mechanical/laser device. Once
digitised, they can be graded within Orthopedie
to cover the full range of sizes and fittings,
and then stored in a last library. The last
library includes a powerful search feature,
enabling you to enter key measures and instantly
pinpoint the closest matching lasts. These can
then be previewed onscreen before the final
selection is made.
Automatic last modification
Orthopedie allows you to position girth measures
at any point on the last, enter the desired
measures for those points (derived from the
patient/customer foot measures) and then automatically
adjust the last accordingly. A powerful algorithm
ensures that the desired measures are applied
without distorting the overall shape of the
last. This is an immensely powerful feature,
enabling the last maker to make precise modifications
to a last in a matter of seconds.
Powerful sculpting feature
For more extreme changes, and for creating particular
shapes on the last, Orthopedie includes a powerful
sculpting tool. This allows you to select the
depth and size of material to be added or removed,
and then to apply the change with a simple click
of the mouse. Careful use allows you to create
a last that is exactly the shape required in
a fraction of the time taken by manual processes.
Instant supplement creation
Creating a supplement for a last is as simple
as selecting the shape and the depth required.
The supplement can then be instantly merged
into the last, creating a single shape for style
and pattern engineering.
Accurate last flattening
A key feature of Orthopedie is the unique Shoemaster
flattening engine. This allows the rapid and
controlled conversion of the 3D surface into
a 2D surface for pattern engineering. Linked
2D and 3D surfaces allow style creation and
modification on either surface, with the other
updating in real time. The same tools are used
for both 2D and 3D commands.
Fast
style transfer¡@
This powerful facility allows you to directly
transfer an existing style onto a modified last.
All the relevant pattern engineering information
is also transferred. This means that any style
you have developed can be instantly applied
to the lasts you have modified, without the
need for lengthy re-engineering.
Powerful style and pattern engineering
Orthopedie contains all the powerful style and
pattern engineering functionality of the leading
Shoemaster 3D software systems. Style lines
can be drawn directly on the last in 3D, with
the lines simultaneously drawn on the 2D standard.
A comprehensive range of pattern engineering
functions can then be applied (allowances, offsets,
scallops, stabs, etc.) with any changes to the
2D lines and pieces automatically being reflected
on the 3D model (and vice versa).
Flexible last and patterns output¡@
Lasts created in Orthopedie can be output in
a wide range of 3D formats for physical production
by milling machines or rapid prototyping equipment.
Completed shoe patterns can be printed or sent
to a cutting table. Orthopedie supports all
the industry standard file formats including
DXF, IGES and STL.
